“A Painter's Tale: Curon, 1950” is a story of love and resistance, a video game about the theme of memory. The bell tower that still emerges from the lake today is the ultimate testimony to the ancient village of Curon, submerged by the waters of the Resia artificial basin in 1950, following a series of protests by the citizenry. This process had already begun during the Fascist era and pitted the interests of a large industrial group against those of the inhabitants, who certainly had no wish to abandon their homes.
The video game tells the story of a painter who, while visiting the present-day Curon Venosta, is dragged into the depths of the lake by a mysterious female figure and surprisingly wakes up in the past, in the ancient village just as it appeared before being submerged by the waters.
“A Painter's Tale: Curon, 1950” is not a documentary about the village's past, but rather a tale that blends reality and fiction to spread the history of the town through the interactive dimension.
